Biden made a total comeback at today’s campaign rally in Detroit. He was strong, unfaltering, laid out his program for the first 100 days of his renewed Presidency, AND slammed Donald Trump comprehensively, calling him out for his conviction for 34 felonies, for being a rapist, for going bankrupt in a casino (something, Biden said, he didn’t think possible), for being a menace to the country. And he called Trump “a loser,” sure to enrage Trump. The thing is, he had a huge crowd to play to, and apparently someone or ones deciding on the debate formats decided – it was an imbecilic decision since Biden performs best when talking to crowds – that there would be no audience. As Joy Reid said in her assessment, that person should be rethinking his or her career. In any case, as a citizen and writer who counseled people against voting for Biden, I’ve made a hundred-eighty degree turn. Why? Because if Trump wins, life on Earth will be extinguished as he gives over all lands and water to the oil corporations; because Trump will abolish the Constitution and all of our liberties, however limited some may think they are, because Trump will consign millions of Americans to concentration camps, because he will call out troops to assault and kill people. This is deadly serious. We cannot let Trump back into the White House. Biden remains the Democratic Party nominee. We MUST vote for him. Anyone who votes for a self-described “third-party” candidate like Jill Stein or Cornel West is casting their vote for Trump. We have NO genuine third party, nor will be likely have one soon. My advice: grow wiser and understand what is at stake. If you were not going to vote for Biden because of his genocidal Gaza policy and his horrendous Zionism, think twice: you are voting on the kind of country you will be living in after the 2024 election. Do you want to live under a Trump dictatorship? I am already seriously looking into leaving the country, old as I am. I want to avoid that. Therefore I will vote for Biden.
